Thanks Steven for your interest on this note. Let me explain the scenario a little more with an example:

Say there is an Employee (P1) assigned to Org Unit (O1) for 30% for a day - June 30, 2009. We can handle this scenario using the Staffing Percentage and relationships in HRP1001.

Now consider this same Employee (P1) is assigned 30% in Org Unit (O1) from 09:00 HRS to 12:00 HRS on June 30, 2009. Later from 15:00 to 20:00 HRS on June 30, 2009 itself he needs to be assigned for 70% in the Org Unit (O1).

These are some of the scenarios for Consultant profiles working on assignments with varied billing rates identified by the percentage. When the assignment duration is less than a day, I feel we have a limitation in terms of recording the assignment. Hence the need for a flexible and scalable unit of measurement for assignments.
