Hello David,

I went to //java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download and tried to download the correct version 1.4.2 But after installing the software, apparently I got the wrong version since it created the directory c:\program files \java\jre1.6.0_01.

I came back to the sun website and check again. Only one (among the listed softwares) that sounds the right version is : Java SE for Business - JRE or JDK 6, 5.0, or 1.4.2.

But this one for business use, I’m thinking about a single-user software just for a trial.

Please shed some light on this issue for me. Thanks so much for your time.

Best regard,

Amy639

They have moved the download to the archive area - Go to http://java.sun.com/products/archive/j2se/1.4.2_19/index.html to download... I'm sure the JRE version will work.

        Hi Amy,

I don't mind questions at all... Your application server should be 'localhost', system number 00, system ID NSP. Don't worry about anything else. There is a readme file in the root directory of the installation folder which explains everything you need to do including how to set up the logon pad. Give it a try and let me know - Let me know exactly what problem.error you are getting so that I have a better idea of what is going on.

          David,

I looks for the readme everywhere in the folder/subfolders, but all 3 of them are either for registry cleanup or MaxDB stuffs. None talks about setting up or installation.

I’ve tried again the values that you recommend, it always gives me errors, please see below.

Under the SAPNWABAP701SR1_TRIAL folder, go to DOC\html\index.htm -> This what will guide you through the process. Make sure to read everything, and click the small "next" link at the bottom to move to the next section - you will go through "Welcome", "What to expect", "System Requirements", "License", "Installation/ Uninstallation", and "Getting Started".

Make sure to read system requirements, especially the part about DHCP server or MS Loopback adapter.

Then is that is all right, read point 9 under "Installation/ Uninstallation".

The "Getting Started" section will explain exactly how to set up the SAPGui.

Have you been able to start your SAP server using the MMC console? Are all the nodes green? (As opposed to red or yellow)

Digging inch by inch, some have been done : loopback adapter, db manager. I’m now focusing on the MMC console, a little confusion: neither colour green nor red, but instead I see blue & grey.

I’ve tried to start the SAP server as you advised . But there’s a roadblock: from the context menu to when I try to start (or logon), it bombed out since invalid user/password. I’ve used several combinations:

1- the master user/password when installing
              2- bcuser/minisap
              3- SAP*/PASS

Is there anyway to reset the password or something ? David ! Please throw me a line or two to clear off this issue. Your dedication is great. Thanks.

      David,

After a long and bumpy ride, finally I nailed it down: successfully installed on PC.

But then another issue arises: How can I log into the stuff ? I’ve tried many ways, but none worked. I know I’ve already asked you too much ! But just hope that you don’t mind. This is my last chance, promise !

Please tell me how I can log in ? Am I missing something ?

Thanks for your good heart to help people around here. The world needs more like you ( less like me ! :) )
