The SAP Availability Log
http://weblogs.sdn.sap.com/pub/wlg/15050
A basic metric for system-wide performance is up time, or system availability. Generally, this is absolute time less scheduled outages. There are many manual and automatic ways of tracking this, but one of the simplest, yet most accurate, for an SAP system is the available.log.

Install SAP on Amazon Web Services #2 -- the Installation
http://weblogs.sdn.sap.com/pub/wlg/14763
Run up an SAP system, backed by 150GB of DB2 data, without having to beg, steal or borrow the hardware .... I have created a public image on Amazon Web Services that can be used as the basis (sorry) for installing an SAP system on Windows. This blog details how to install an IDES system, using this public image and Amazon's EBS feature for persistent data.

Install SAP on Amazon Web Services #1 -- the Environment
http://weblogs.sdn.sap.com/pub/wlg/14760
In this post, I describe how I setup an Amazon Web Services windows environment to be used for installing SAP ABAP and Java stacks. I show how to: * identify the appropriate starting image, from those provided by Amazon * initiate and modify this environment, * save this environment In a subsequent post, I will describe how to: * setup persistent storage of the NW and DB2 installation, including database logging, * setup an environment suitable for using standard SAP and AWS functionality to support sustained (i.e. 24x7) operation of the SAP system * and finally, be able to (relatively painlessly) stop and start the SAP system and / or server without losss of persistent data.
