AEX Enablement of the SAP Business Suite
SAP Business Suite 7 and i2010 have recently been enabled for the usage of AEX. AEX (Advanced Adapter Engine Extended) is a light-weight installation option of SAP NetWeaver Process Integration 7.3 (SAP NW PI 7.3). AEX consumes up to 60% less memory compared to the traditional PI dual stack. So you might consider the usage of AEX instead of PI dual stack. The Crucial Role of Solution Architects in Banking Project
Banking projects are welll known for their complexity. A typical solution for a bank usualy includes multiple systems, technologies, standards and processes and it is clear that in such an almost chaotic environment there is a need for a very centric role: The Solution Architect. In this blog I compare the Solution Architect in a banking project to the classical Architect in the civil engineering environment in order to learn from that field and use the experience in oour IT world. A Performance Analysis between point to point Web Service call Vs Brokered Web Service call via PI
We once had a requirement to integrate a 3rd party IVR system with SAP ECC. As a standard practice we approached the solution to be brokered , ie interfacing via SAP PI. The interfacing solution agreed upon was a synchronous webservice call. We would be exposing the web service and IVR would be consuming it. However, at that point of time, we also noticed a performance requirement, that IVR would need the response back in 3 secs time frame. This requirement lead to further brainstorming on if we should make expose the web service directly from SAP ECC, bypassing the middleware PI. Apparently, bypassing a hopping layer would help eliminate some form of time. However, with PI 7.1 's advanced adapter engine's local processing ability, we wanted to actually evaluate performance of both the scenarios(with and without PI) by a simple POC. SAP NetWeaver 7.3 Goes Green
The notion that energy savings can be achieved through SAP NetWeaver was first raised during the SAP Influencer Summit in December 2010 by SAP Chief Sustainability Officer Peter Graf. He used similar data to show how SAP development takes advantage of energy savings possibilities, which results in lower costs for operating our software and reducing carbon emissions. Using SAP NetWeaver Process Integration as an example, Holger Faulhaber from Cross Product Management of Technology and Innovation Platform, makes the case for potential savings in energy consumption, CO2 emissions, and of course, the cost to the customer. On the heels of the announcement of SAP NetWeaver 7.3 becoming generally available to all customers, marrying the topics of sustainability and SAP's technology platform couldn't be more timely. Quo vadis SOA?
As the echo of #SAPPHIRENOW resonates through the ecosystem people keep talking about the new trinity of on-device, on-demand and in-memory computing. Personally I feel it may be about time to re-cap on the technology that has brought us here in the first place and then move to the here and now. Why's that? Well, to paraphrase one of my favorite artists: You know where it ends? Well, it usually depends on where you start!
