Mark is a standards architect for SAP Labs U.S focusing on semantic data modeling, XML implementations, and vertical and horizontal business standards. Mark has been active in data strategies for a number of years, and XML research and implementation since 1997. He has completed a number of reports for various U.S. government agencies regarding XML and data strategies and implementations. Mark is active in a number of different data and XML standards efforts. He is the editor of the ebXML Core Components Technical Specification being developed by UN/CEFACT and is co-Chair of the companion ISO TC154 ISO 15000-5 CCTS project. He is the Vice Chair of the UN/CEFACT Applied Technologies Group and is Chair of the XML Syntax Working Group. He chairs the UN/CEFACT Harmonization Project and actively participates in UN/CEFACT Methodology groups involved in a variety of areas. Mark was a founding member of the OASIS UBL TC, as well as TC Vice Chair, NDR Subcommittee Chair, and NDR Editor. Mark was also the editor of the ebXML Requirements document and an active member of the ebXML architecture and core components groups. He was the chair of the Joint American National Standards Institute and UN/CEFACT effort to develop internationally standardized core components and he was Vice Chair of the ANSI ASC X12 XML workgroup. Mark is a noted speaker and lecturer and has given presentations at various national and international XML conferences, including keynote speeches, technical presentations, and tutorials in XML Schema design and semantic data modeling.
