Eliot Tarlin has been designing products for end users for over twenty-five years. Starting with Wang Laboratories and Software Arts (VisiCalc and TK!Solver), he was the lead designer on Digital Equipment’s XUI (DECwindows) project. Apple Computer then brought Eliot to Silicon Valley as design manager for the user interface to their Taligent operating system. He has since worked with GVO, a product design consultancy, Xerox, Palm, and, most recently, Oracle Corporation. Eliot is currently Lead Designer with the Emerging Solutions Group in SAP Labs, Palo Alto. Before getting involved with computers, Eliot was a documentary filmmaker, learning the importance of audience (a type of end user). His undergraduate degree is in art, and he also holds a Master of Science degree in Computer Science.
