Dr. Marek Kowalkiewicz received MSc and PhD (Summa Cum Laude) degrees in Information Systems from Poznan University of Economics in 2002 and 2006 respectively. From 2003 to 2006 he was engaged in the Adaptive Services Grid (ASG) project, funded by European Commission, while completing his PhD. During that time he has also been working with the University of Queensland and Microsoft Research Asia as a visiting student. He developed a web content extraction system called myPortal, which was announced on major international conferences, including WWW and VLDB. His main areas of interest include information retrieval and filtering, web information extraction, web engineering, enterprise services, service oriented architecture. He has published 5 book chapters and over 30 research papers in proceedings of international conferences. Currently Marek is employed by SAP Research in Australia.
