The Evolution of SCN and LinkedIn
Back in October 2009 I announced the availability of a LinkedIn profile connector called the SAP Community Bio. As you all know, LinkedIn is one of the top professional social networking sites. The purpose of the SAP Community Bio application is to create a link between SAP and LinkedIn, and to allow the SCN members to surface relevant data on their LinkedIn profiles. Beyond this, we have been planning on tightening the connection to LinkedIn by surfacing LinkedIn profile information in your SCN profile. After about a year and a half of running this application, I have some good news and some bad news. The bad news... On Monday, June 27, the SAP Community Bio application shall be temporarily disabled. Jun. 24, 2011

Open Innovation and the Ecosystem
Open, Innovation, and Ecosystem… three great words, but what do they mean? On Friday, October 15, 2010 I had the privilege of attending an SDForum event titled Open Innovation and the Ecosystem, held at HP in Palo Alto, CA. This was an all-day event with some great speakers and opportunities to interact with some Silicon Valley leaders and innovators. The commentary below is my synopsis of the event. Oct. 18, 2010

What is the Future of Social Networking
As a product manager for a community website as well as a German company, at times I am beside myself when it comes to matters of privacy and data protection. In a recent post Spiegel reports on the drafting of a law that would prevent employers from looking at job applicants' social networking activities during the hiring process. Aug. 26, 2010

SAP Community Bio: Your Connection Between SCN and LinkedIn
Well, it has finally happened. SAP and LinkedIn have just launched their FIRST community application: the SAP Community Bio. The SAP Community Bio is a LinkedIn application that you install into your LinkedIn profile, and it pulls data from your SCN business card. In particular, it pulls: SCN membership status which is linked back to your SCN business card, total number of points, areas of expertise, active contributor status, SAP Mentor status, and links to the most recent blogs on SCN. Oct. 13, 2009

Project Search 2.0: Faceted Search
Finding information across the web is the most fundamental use case of the web. Without search engines and basic navigation, nobody would be able to locate anything. The search application as you know it on SCN has evolved very little since the launch of SDN back in 2004. We have received numerous comments, feedback, and complaints about the search application, and we are also sitting on loads of industry reports, usability studies, and best practices. So, it is now far past due for us to deploy a new Search application, one which not only looks better but one which will allow you to navigate search results based on assigned metadata, similar to product searches on Amazon and other such websites. On June 28, 2009 after our system has been updated, Search 2.0 will be live. Jun. 25, 2009

A Response to "7 Reasons Why Executives Hate Social Media"
I came across this link in my email, 7 Reasons Why Executives Hate Social Media, and after reading this lovely piece of fiction, I believe that its intent is not to convey the real beliefs of Executives; rather, its true intent is to invoke responses, such the one I am about to give you, so as to identify these seven items as non-issues. Apr. 14, 2009
