Is Customer Experience the Only Business Value Measure That Matters?
If you attended the recent SAP Customer Experience Workshop or were following the tweets from #SAPcx, you might get the impression that this was what Lior Arussy of Strativity Group was asserting. Customer experience sounds nice, you say, but is it really the most important? Feb. 9, 2012

What's Your Strategy for #Cloud Computing? Cloud-Centered IT, Cloud-Attached IT or Cloud Unattached IT?
Cloud-centered IT is an IT approach designed with the principle of "cloud first" for architecting business services to support a company's business processes. I sketched up a few drawings and posted them on Facebook and Linked in to try and elicit feedback from a couple of cloud-interested communities. We got some great comments from some smart people. Id like to share them with you, and am definitely interested in your own thoughts about these concepts. Oct. 18, 2011

Appification of Enterprise Architecture
Jon Reeds recent review of SAP TechEd Las Vegas left me pondering something he felt was key to HANAs success:, HANA is also going to need an apps ecosystem to succeed. Jon expressed a feeling about HANA as a platform that I think is a new level of requirement for enterprise architecture in general that users will now be expecting new functionality in apps to be instantly delivered.

Podcast: How SAP IT Uses BPM and Data Services for Post Merger Data Migration
Recently, I came across such a story here at SAP, where our IT group is facilitating integration of some recently acquired companies. The team has leveraged our own technologies, SAP NetWeaver BPM and SAP BusinessObjects Data Services, to create a data cleansing, migration, and governance process. This had the effect of transforming an IT centric process into an evolving best practice that engages IT data analysts and LOB managers in accepting new customer data as they are migrated into SAPs systems.

Focus on Business Value is What Sets BPM Apart
What is eye-opening to me about the BPM approach, however, is the focus on business value throughout the entire cycle. Any true BPM project starts off with clear, measurable business goals, a clear plan of how these will be measured and rapidly delivered, and then evaluated in a program of continuous improvement. I would like to share with you one BPM partner sales story that I found from 2009 where the customer and partner took a value-oriented approach to a BPM project proposal, and the results were significant. Closing the Loop for BPXSlam09 Phoenix
Lessons We Should Learn from in First Iteration of #BPXSlam09
Thinking back to the BPX Process Design Slam event at SAP TechEd 2009 in Phoenix, I immediately start envisioning overused clichés for high tech projects. (Maybe there should be similar visuals for conducting ones own project post-mortem as well, but I digress
) Let me add to the list of clichés by suggesting: just like a golf swing, the follow through for a scrum is as important as the rest of the project. As a team lead and one of the event organizers working with Marilyn Pratt, here are my own observations about how we should improve the next iteration of BPXSlam09 at SAP TechEd 2009 in Vienna.
