Using Change Requests in the SAP NetWeaver Portal
I thought I'd try to get a Change Request concept working with the SAP NetWeaver Portal. This would allow me to collect a set of PCD objects into an area that could then be a backup copy of the objects and also allow transporting to another system. Yes, this is similar to the existing Transports, but they are really limited to inter portal content transfer. Aug. 5, 2008

Someone once said that a picture's worth a thousand words, or something like that. I'm seeing blogs that are using other people's pictures and not providing attribution. Is this appropriate? May. 31, 2008

Changing from a portal application to a Web Dynpro for Java application
In the past, when I wrote an application for the SAP NetWeaver Portal I tended to write portal components. A recent requirement to investigate the use of new mail server led me to see if I can do the same things with Web Dynpro for Java. Here are some of the things I found... May. 12, 2008

What's small and useful, but often doesn't last as long as you want?
No, this isn't one of those bits of SPAM you often get! The small, useful object I refer to is the SAP Logon Ticket Keypair certificate. When it is generated at Web AS Java installation time, it has a default expiration date of 2 years. This may seem quite a long time, but once set up it can be difficult to change. Change the portal logon page image programmatically
It is sometimes useful to be able to change the contents of the image that appears on the portal logon page to pass on information to the users before they actually logon.
For example, if the general user community has been locked out by an operator while new functionality is added, then an appropriate message can be displayed.
This blog will describe the use of standard Java libraries to create the logon branding image. Jul. 4, 2006
