How an SAP Standards Architect helps SAP deliver business value
Standards, such as for a simple power plug, can deliver a lot of business value. Standards for application software are no different. Although many software standards exist, more are needed. However, until they are created and broadly adopted, the potential business value they offer is not being realized. This blog explains SAP’s approach to deciding which standards deliver business value; how SAP decides which standards to adopt or develop; and how the author, as an SAP Standards Architect, helps make this happen. Mar. 5, 2008

But I believe this will only happen if enterprise services and business process platforms are built on standards. This blog outlines my Tech Ed session that explains: how standards help achieve the ultimate vision; the missing standards that are needed; and how broadly standards are being adopted. Without a full set of widely adopted standards, realizing the "ultimate vision" will be harder. Sep. 26, 2007

This third blog provides a description of the next two categories in SAP's Standards Taxonomy: "Languages for Defining Business Semantics" these are formal languages that are used to define semantics in the same way that English is a language that is used to express ideas; and "Business Semantics" which are actual definitions that are written using the language, e.g. English. Sep. 24, 2007
