The Customers Said it Best
Wow! What an amazing week. SAPPHIRE NOW 2011 is now behind us, but the work we described last week is just beginning. Last year, we talked about a transformation happening in three areas: in-memory, cloud, mobility. This year, I wanted to focus the keynote on HANA, not because its the only innovation we are delivering but because it is at the heart of SAPs renewal and is core to everything we are working on. We had a very simple goal in mind: to show the business value of HANA through the customers that have seen the value firsthand. Weve talked about speed and performance, and now we wanted to show the value. The best way to do this was through the customers voice. The response has been truly incredible. May. 24, 2011

Freedom for Java
The Java industry is currently going through important changes, and there are many discussions around the openness of Java and the Java Community Process (JCP). To ensure the continued role of Java in driving economic growth, we believe it is essential to transition the stewardship of the language and platform into an authentically open body that is free from any particular corporate interest. The Future of SOA
Recent musings in the blogosphere on the demise of service-oriented architecture (SOA). But SOA is more than just an architectural concept. SOA has helps to bridge the business-IT chasm, and in this role I see SOA going forward and addressing several fundamental issues that businesses face and that IT must resolve. Feb. 5, 2009

Timeless Software: Part 2
The need for maximum efficiency and flexibility of expression in content creation has led to a proliferation of programming languages. The resulting heterogeneous language landscapes present challenges to optimize execution at run-time. Run-time efficiencies can be achieved by separating meaning from optimization and managing state across layers of abstraction. Finally, maintaining security and reliability in the face of constant change and adaptation requires a powerful and flexible lifecycle management system. Nov. 2, 2008
