ModelForge - Web 2.0 for sharing software objects
The wunderbar SAP Research team has created a web2.0 platform, where one can do everything he could dream of (in terms of sharing software object models). You are SAP or a competitor, and you have a “best practice” model representing an Invoice? Just upload your model on modelforge, explain what it is useful for, and see what the community makes out of it. You can have competing models, everything’s open. Our guess is that out of this mess, a few models will emerge, as the most frequently used ones. We consider this is missing in the market. For instance, SAP and competitors expose services through the ESR, but we need to go beyond and expose the objects behind. Modelforge is part of a larger research effort called WebOO (Web Object Orientation). You can find more info on SDN about it (for instance here: sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/14618).  Jul. 28, 2010

Internet of Services + Internet of Things? Internet of Objects!
Let us see where we can go if we want to merge Internet of Things and Internet of Services. Let us be bolder than the current trend of exposing sensors and applications as services. We scratch here the surface of what it would mean to enable the accessibility of any object (virtual or physical) via the internet through universally adopted web technologies. May. 8, 2009

Web Object Oriented Programming
Although we don't communicate too much externally about it, we have research activities related to web technologies at SAP Research France. We're investigating where the REST concept could take us, that is, beyond the enablement of RESTFul Services. We look at a mix between REST and WSDL to enable Object Oriented Programing on the web. This is what we call WebOO for Web Object Orientation. Mar. 11, 2009
