For awhile now you have been asking for a way to grab some information from SDN, BPX or BOC and display it -- somewhere else! An API, an SCN API of sorts for those who want to show their community pride on their own website, blog or even company website.

Well so far we've managed to get RSS feeds into most every aspect of the community except for one. Now that's been solved as well, if you've not already noticed the Top Contributors and Top Companies reports are now RSS enabled.

Make your selections like normal and then copy the RSS link and you are set to go!

To give you an example of how this might work, take a look at the following code example. The RSS feed I copied from above I placed into the code example in the "define FEED_URL" field.

Then I wanted to be sure that it was sorted properly so I added in a small custom sort field to be sure that the top guru was showing at the top.

Perhaps a better example is in order? Here's a sample page from my own site the Friday Morning Report with integrated Community Data and customized to also show when one of the Enterpise Geeks is in the list.

Enjoy and PLEASE let us know if you add any of the data to your site, we'd love to see it and what you do with it!

  • Great change! Any chance to get some more features?

    Hi Craig,

that's great news. As you mentioned, for anyone with an own web page, this is a great feature to show the own active participation on SCN. But I can imagine that there are many others out there who would like to mention their contributions to SCN from their CV (for example). So I think that the possibility to link to a filtered page within the top contributors application would have been even more valuable.
I also was surprised to see that the possibility to filter by "Overall" timeframe has been removed.
For the above comments I have created a thread in the suggestions area: https://forums.sdn.sap.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1268536&tstart=0
But again, I like the new feature and will see if I can include it in my own page, and very much appreciate the effort you guys are putting to improve the site!

    Keep rocking,
    Robert
