Today I was at meeting at SAP Denmark, where the topic was on Business Process Modelleing.

We started the day with an introduction to BPM with Charles Møller. He first talked about why we needed BPM. He mentioned that a Gartner research proved that 10% companies need to change their processes daily and 18% weekly. I was amazed. Why would you change your processes that often? Either you don't know your processes enough or you have a really good data and are able to make changes often.

Normally on the projects I have been on it take a year to implement the process in the SAP Backend. And they are not going to change it often. There may be bug fixes but they cannot take a long time to solve, if you take this as your daily changes, then it is correct you get that many changes.

Spring consulting had two presentations. The first was on the theoretical background of SAPs SOA tools. They also did a demo of how the different processes in BPM could work.  I had tried the 7.2 at Teched it was not so interesting. It was to cool to see some of the ways the used the tool.

At the end of the day there was some information around the roadmap of BPM. It looks like a place where there will be lots of development, and hopefully also a lot of customers. I'll follow the field and see what is going on in relation to SAP Process Integration. The tools will co-exists but there will be lots of integration between the tools.

As a part of what the labs are doing they showed how the Gravity worked. Fun to have used Gravity and see the screencast again, knowing some of the bugs with Gravity demo. Interesting that a Proff of Concept can be adopted as a part of information on what is going on.  

I did not hear a lot of how Netweaver BPM was going to develop at Teched. So it was nice to hear about how BPM is moving. I'm looking forward to install BPM 7.2 and try it out. Unfortunately there are now timeline for an SDN download of it.
