SAP Network Blog: Collaboration using Google Voice

As SAP professionals we need to collaborate everyday for faster solutions. There are Blogs, Forums, Emails, Podcasts, E-learning, Articles, Chat messages and recently Google Wave....the list goes on.

Sometimes I wish we can talk to the other person and interact easily.

Google Voice has revolutionized the art of collaboration by helping us to have a conversation with our fellow experts and hopefully this blog will inspire you folks to use Google Voice and call each other or even leave a message which gets transcribed as text message and delivered to your email.

Using this simple feature called "do not disturb" you can route all calls to voicemail which gets transcribed as text and sent to your email. The benefit is that you dont have to write a long description of your issue..just SPEAK UP !!!!

How many times do we use conference calls ?? We can now redefine these calls...lets assume you have a serious portal system downtime and you cannot resolve the issue. If you need a conference call, I can turn off the "do not disturb" sign and upto 4 users can call on my google voice number and with the call waiting feature conference calls is FREE !!

Using a blackberry you can download the voice app and save a lot of cell phone minutes too....there you go !! you dont have to cry anymore that your company is refusing to pay your cell phone bills and this will cut a lot of IT spending too.

SDN can add a new feature called "Q&A using Google Voice" where you can speak your issue and it is displayed as text, similar to the forums where you type the issue just speak out the issue and if somebody can resolve the issue call the users google voice number and answer the issue just like you type your answer in the forums !

Another recommendation to SAP is to create something called "Case Studies" where you can record the conversation using Google Voice (Conference Calls) and post it on SDN.
