Video Shoot: Sue Martin at SAP TechEd on SAP Certification Changes
During SAP TechEd Phoenix, I shot a couple of live flipcam videos with Sue Martin, Global Director of SAP Certification. During the videos, we talked informally about the changes underway within SAP Education. We discussed the perception of SAP certification as largely unchanged through the years and why that is no longer true. SAP Community Bio: Your Connection Between SCN and LinkedIn
Well, it has finally happened. SAP and LinkedIn have just launched their FIRST community application: the SAP Community Bio. The SAP Community Bio is a LinkedIn application that you install into your LinkedIn profile, and it pulls data from your SCN business card. In particular, it pulls: SCN membership status which is linked back to your SCN business card, total number of points, areas of expertise, active contributor status, SAP Mentor status, and links to the most recent blogs on SCN. University Alliances for your Academic Career
Gail Corbitt, our UA Director for USA, started a forum thread (see link provided) asking: "What are the best ideas for sustaining the {University Alliances} program you have, given that faculty retire, Deans leave and resources are really tight right now to keep the existing programs going?" This motivated me to consider that the program is sustainable when it delivers elements that advance professor's careers in measurable contributions to the missions and goals of their universities. My contribution to her question is repeated in this blog entry. Bob LoBue in University Alliances Message Board [Aug. 04, 2009 06:12 PM | 0 Comments | Permalink]

Because of your loyalty and enthusiastic support around SAP products and services, the SAP Community Network team endeavors to foster the ongoing growth and maturation of the largest online community of SAP customers, partners, systems integrators, consultants, and the various other professions too numerous to mention, and in order to deliver on this promise to you, we must from time to time update our systems, implement new functionality, and perform basic system maintenance that will help keep our platform stable and our communities vibrant. What's in a name? that which we call a rose. By any other name would smell as sweet...?
Now I am thinking, we chose the name SAP University Alliances Community. We feel that this is a proper brand to build on, not just for our relationships in higher education, but in providing a forum for connecting and collaborating with professors, students, customers, partners, SAP functional groups and SAP HR, and related associations like our User Groups. Thoughts on Launching an Academic Community
I have been thinking a lot lately about the concept of 'community'. There is something special about the academic world that had been missing from my professional sphere. Today, with the responsibility of introducing the University Alliance Community, I have similar feelings.
