New General Ledger - Introduction
Today, in the current SAP R/3, we would handle General Ledger Accounting by using different SAP applications. Depending on specific industry requirements internal as well as external, we have to implement other application components or functions, which reside outside the general Ledger, like special purpose ledger- to meet drawing financial statements based on other accounting principles like US GAAP, IFRS etc. and Profit Center accounting- to have profitability reports on some internal business units. Though these functions are still available in the current SAP R/3, as these are lying scattered, it involves numerous closing actives to get the desired result.
