Freedom for Java
The Java industry is currently going through important changes, and there are many discussions around the openness of Java and the Java Community Process (JCP). To ensure the continued role of Java in driving economic growth, we believe it is essential to transition the stewardship of the language and platform into an authentically open body that is free from any particular corporate interest. Part 4 - Configure the Workflow Engine in Netweaver Trial 7.01
Soon after posting 'Part 3 – Enable Transport System on Netweaver 7.01 Trial' I went on to configure my Workflow Engine and realised that it had a very similar problem as the transport system had - For some reason this version of Netweaver is set up with the host name specified as PWDF3101 by default - This causes all sorts of complications, one of which I dealt with in the previous part of this series, and another here. You have the CCMS that goes PING?
There's a scene in Monty Python's The Meaning of Life where Michael Palin exclaims to Graham Chapman and John Cleese, "Ah, I see you have the machine that goes *ping*" in an expensively furbished hospital operating room. This story has nothing to do with that. Other than the ping sound. And maybe the overly expensive tools to do simple jobs. Don't leave children unattended - How SAP Central Process Scheduling by Redwood manages the parent-child relationship of SAP jobs
Many SAP ABAP based applications run in background jobs which in turn create other background jobs (e.g. to allow for mass processing in parallel). For a job administrator there is the challenge to manage this newly created parent-child relationship. With SAP's XBP 2.0 (or higher) interface the relationship is recognized by your external job scheduler (such as SAP Central Process Scheduling by Redwood.) Part 3 - Enable Transport System on Netweaver 7.01 Trial
In order to create a more realistic development environment, along with other good reasons, it is a good idea to enable the transport management system (TMS) in Netweaver 7.01 trial. ST12 - storing additional information and managing traces
In other blogs it was mentioned that ST12 only stores the ABAP trace in the database. PI adapter module RFC by JRA
We create a PI adapter module that calls a ABAP function module to process the messages payload. The function module must accept the message payload and encoding and return the resulting payload and an error text if an error ocurred. The module uses the java resource architecture (JRA) to call the RFC runtime. This eases transport of the PI communication channel because no module parameters have to be changed in the different stages. Also credentials for RFC connection can be maintained using NWA. Part 2 - Netweaver Trial Remote Access
After installing SAP Netweaver Trial, I realised that it would be very convenient if I could connect to my SAP server at home from a remote location such as my laptop while I was at a client's site. How-to Manage House-Cleaning in the System Landscape Directory - Duplicate System Entries
The SAP NetWeaver System Landscape Directory (SLD) is the central provider of landscape information in the SAP system landscape. Systems report their data automatically updating their data regularly in the SLD. Nevertheless, records of systems that have been de-installed or moved have to be taken care of to present client applications with up-to-date data. This task is necessary in all releases of the SLD, but support has improved over time.
