Competitive Pressures and Value Propositions, Is Lean the Answer?
The latest kick is Lean and Six Sigma but in most cases that will not make the difference in addressing competitive pressures or your value proposition. Focus on business drivers for your SAP implementation before the project, throughout the project, and after go-live to see real benefit.

Café Innovation How about an SAP App store?
In this age of people-centric technology, the iPhone revolution has brought about new business models and innovative ways in which people seek to conduct routine business. Fueling this is the availability of an increasing number of apps that are a result of a community-driven approach to make the mobile experience more meaningful. Enterprise application of this approach is picking up. Possibly, it is only a matter of time before we see a plethora of apps serving those that have enterprise needs including those serviced by SAP functionality.

BPM in Ten Years? My Best Shot
At SAP TechEd 2009 Vienna, I met Chris Horak, who told me that he wondered what the future of Business Process Management might look like: What will the successors of todays BPM and ERP software in 10 or 15 years look like? I took up the challenge and gave the matter some thought. Here's my best shot at it.

The Real Reason Executive Participation Creates SAP Project Success
Successful SAP projects occur with executive involvement because of the nature of their role of setting direction, creating long term goals, and developing strategy. This is the hidden reason that is often overlooked--, it is their strategy "imprint" on the project that changes the dynamics. Their forward looking insight provides more possibility for satisfied customers and successful implementations than the more common reasons of authority or visibiity.

WWW = Way to a Wiser World!
Based on my search in the internet on the topic of Orgaanizational Wisdom I tend to form a view that the publication of these two books, one in 1998 and the other in 2007, the presentation by JPCarlisle in 2006 and many more resources in the web may be considered as an indication of the recent progress in the subject. The Chicago University's Arete Initiative and other initiatives by individuals reflected by the number of websites may certainly be taken to indicate the interest and concern with the subject. Hence we may reasonably conclude that the 'Data-Information-Knowledge-Wisdom' trajectory appears to be becoming an interesting area of study. This seems to give hope that IT would eventually help a wiser world dawn as a continuum of processing of data, information and knowledge so far.

Wave, Web Dynpro, and the Magic Glue: Google Wave and Web Dynpro Integration Part 1
Google Wave is here, and many active contributors from SCN have been swarming all over it, using it, experimenting, programming against its API, and discussing possible use cases and their business value. I have been working on the topic of Web Dynpro integration: How can we integrate waves and Web Dynpro? And what does this mean for the future of enterprise software?

Partners Speak Out on SCN
Some SAP partners recently reflected on the value of participating in the SAP Community Network. In short, participation offered the technical and business resources that allowed them to stay current, solve problems fast and deliver their products on time and on budget. SCN also provided them a vehicle to demonstrate thought leadership and build reputation so as to generate leads. Read their comments...
