Competitive Pressures and Value Propositions, Is Lean the Answer?
The latest kick is Lean and Six Sigma but in most cases that will not make the difference in addressing competitive pressures or your value proposition. Focus on business drivers for your SAP implementation before the project, throughout the project, and after go-live to see real benefit. Slipstream - Live Dashboarding for SAP NetWeaver BPM (“Galaxy”)
One of the value propositions of an SOA is to combine and reuse services. BPM technology has finally come to a point where we are able to model large parts of these service-based processes rather than hiding them within applications. This also enables us to run analyses at any point within the process and visualize the results in real-time instead of implementing awkward hooks into the application code. HCM Processes & Forms: Data Sharing
During my implementation of a position change process, I had a peculiar issue with data sharing that I would like to share with the SDN community. According to my knowlegde, there is no SAP documentation that covers Data Sharing in an HCM Processes & Forms context and therefore it seems relevant to write this blog in order to help others with Data Sharing related problems. The process involves updating infotype 0000 and 0001 using service SAP_PA in an ECC6 EhP 2 environment. BPM in Ten Years? My Best Shot
At SAP TechEd 2009 Vienna, I met Chris Horak, who told me that he wondered what the future of Business Process Management might look like: “What will the successors of today’s BPM and ERP software in 10 or 15 years look like?” I took up the challenge and gave the matter some thought. The Real Reason Executive Participation Creates SAP Project Success
Successful SAP projects occur with executive involvement because of the nature of their role of setting direction, creating long term goals, and developing strategy. This is the hidden reason that is often overlooked--, it is their strategy "imprint" on the project that changes the dynamics. Their forward looking insight provides more possibility for satisfied customers and successful implementations than the more common reasons of authority or visibiity. WWW = Way to a Wiser World!
Based on my search in the internet on the topic of Orgaanizational Wisdom I tend to form a view that the publication of these two books, one in 1998 and the other in 2007, the presentation by JPCarlisle in 2006 and many more resources in the web may be considered as an indication of the recent progress in the subject. The Chicago University's Arete Initiative and other initiatives by individuals reflected by the number of websites may certainly be taken to indicate the interest and concern with the subject. Hence we may reasonably conclude that the 'Data-Information-Knowledge-Wisdom' trajectory appears to be becoming an interesting area of study. This seems to give hope that IT would eventually help a wiser world dawn as a continuum of processing of data, information and knowledge so far. Café Innovation – SAP customers seek new ways to improve return on their SAP investment
Innovation in how organizations support their SAP investment is in many ways just as important as how they innovate with SAP at the center of their technology investments. The role of a community-based approach should be considered as also the importance of the BPXer. Organizations are beginning to look at new models emerging within the SAP ecosystem that rely on a community-based approach and look to lower the TCO (financial and environmental) for their technology investments. Closing the Loop for BPXSlam09 Phoenix
Lessons We Should Learn from in First Iteration of #BPXSlam09 Thinking back to the BPX Process Design Slam event at SAP TechEd 2009 in Phoenix, I immediately start envisioning overused clichés for high tech projects. (Maybe there should be similar visuals for conducting one’s own project post-mortem as well, but I digress…) Let me add to the list of clichés by suggesting: just like a golf swing, the follow through for a scrum is as important as the rest of the project. As a team lead and one of the event organizers working with Marilyn Pratt, here are my own observations about how we should improve the next iteration of BPXSlam09 at SAP TechEd 2009 in Vienna.
